Nicholas Kirkwood Designs A $7,000 Shoe For Fall 2011
Nicholas Kirkwood Fall 2011 shoes collection was unveiled by the designer a few days ago in Paris. Standing out were the Moroccan slipper inspired sandals. Rising high on Kirkwood's classic platform, the upper and heel were made of fabric embroidered with gold thread, trimmed with gold-colored leather. Priced near a hefty $7,000 mark, one might be temped to think they were actually made gold.
Christopher Kane Wins 2011 BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund Award
Christopher Kane was announced as the winner of the 2011 BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund Award. Along with British Vogue's Alexandra Shulman, the British Fashion Council awarded Kane with £200,000 (little over $300,000) to help him further develop his business. Not that his business was suffering - Kane's last Spring 2011 signature collection was widely successful and much talked about and his space print dresses and shirts from a few seasons ago are still high in demand. He is also the head designer for Donatela Versace's Versus label and quite successful at that as well.
Other 2011 BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund award hopefuls were Richard Nicoll, Charlotte Olympia, Nicholas Kirkwood, Jonathan Saunders, Peter Pilotto, E Tautz and Osman Yousefzada, all of whom Christopher ...

Keith Haring + Nicholas Kirkwood Collaboration
Nicholas Kirkwood, heart-stopping-runway-shoes collaboration god, has a new, quite surprising, collaboration collection coming up. The Keith Haring by Nicholas Kirkwood collection consists of 12 styles incorporating Keith Haring's iconic illustrations. At least one of them is promised to be a pair of flats!
The collection will be available only in February 2011. Incidentally, I have to say, some things are better left in the 80s. But until then, there is a much juicier Nicholas Kirkwood treat coming up.
During the upcoming London Fashion Week, Kirkwood's collaborations with Rodarte, Erdem and Peter Pilotto will available for pre-order in a eight-day pop-up online store. So watch this space!
