Lindsey Wixson Takes Over Spring 2011 Haute Couture
After walking countless Spring 2011 Ready-to-wear Fashion Week shows around the world, Lindsey Wixson took Spring 2011 Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week by storm as well. Walking one show everyday out of the total three days of Haute Couture, the 16 year old was definitely a star. You couldn't miss that signature pout under the heavy couture styling even if you tried.
This Haute Couture season, Lindsey Wixson walked Spring 2011 runways of Christian Dior, Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier.
Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2011 Haute Couture Is A Plethora Of Cultural References
Jean Paul Gaultier paid a homage to the old days of Haute Couture by leaving out the obligatory soundtrack. With total quiet as a backdrop, the only sound you could hear as the models came and went on the runway was the voice of Catherine Deneuve reading out look descriptions written by Paquita Paquin.
Cabaret meets punk, you could say of Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2011 Haute Couture collection. But it was so much more. The collection was an eclectic mix of all things chic. True, all the models were styled with punk hair and cabaret-esque fishnet stockings. But then you also had some of them seductively holding a cigarette mouthpiece, so typical of the 20's.
In a mood for some Ethnic ...
Roger Vivier’s Bruno Frisoni Designs New Limited-Edition ‘Rendez-Vous’ Accessories
It was last year when Roger Vivier artistic director Bruno Frisoni decided to stop the label's couture line. "When I showed couture in January, I was thinking it was something that wasn’t me anymore. I thought the time had passed," he said at the time.
Bruno Frisoni maybe doesn't produce couture looks for Roger Vivier anymore, but he hasn't stopped creating. A new Roger Vivier limited-edition accessories line titled Rendez-Vous was born. Consisting of luxurious handmade shoes and clutches, Rendez-Vous items are produced in quantities of 10-20 of each. We are essentially talking about haute couture accessories here.
Meeting with Telegraph's Hilary Alexander, Frisoni explained that the new Rendez-Vous collection is about "Marlene Dietrich-meets-punk" - a sort of hard-edge sophistication.
Rendez-Vous will ...
Givenchy Spring 2011 Haute Couture Collection Channels Japanese Transformers
Givenchy Spring 2011 Haute Couture maybe only consists of ten looks, but each took thousands of hours of painstaking toil to complete. Despite the small size of the collection, Riccardo Tisci promises there will ever be only one of each, no duplicates. Each dress will be customized in accordance to the customer's wishes.
Ten looks. Never to be seen on the runway. As in the previous season, guests were invited to Hotel d'Evreux in the Place Vendôme for an intimate presentation. It was the only way one could truly appreciate the delicacy and intricacy of the details - yards upon yards of delicate fabric, thousands of sequins and hand-painted tulle.
Riccardo Tisci hired all Asian models for the presentation which can only ...
Chanel Spring 2011 Haute Couture Collection Is The Black Swan and Virgin Suicides All In One
At first glance, looking at Chanel Spring 2011 Haute Couture collection, "cute," might slip off the tip of the tongue. It is as the show progresses, as one look revealed after another, that you understand the genius that is Karl Lagerfeld.
Short double-breasted trapeze suits and Jacky-O-neck coats slowly give way to etherial light-as-air skirts and dresses. With 67 looks in the collection, Lagerfeld brings the balance between constructed and frayed, fluid silhouettes to perfection. Frosty baby pinks, creams and blues, contrasting black and rather interestingly constructed flats make references to the ballet world evident. Rich in detail, every bead and sequin is in it's rightful place - a painstaking toil I'm sure.

Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2011 Haute Couture Is Shimmering With Glamour
Gold metal-band belts scooping up draped flowing dresses with strong shoulders is not something Alexandre Vauthier hasn't done before, but what's different about the new Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2011 Haute Couture collection is the color palette. Letting go of the monochromatic strong-shouldered uniform already in the previous season, Vauthier filled this season with cream, sand and murky shimmering satins and gold lamé, throwing in a geometric print for good measure.
Albeit still strong willed, the Alexandre Vauthier woman is more of a glamour goddess rather than a dangerous femme fatale from seasons past. A lonesome black velvet cutout gown reminding her who she once were and a band of dramatic light-color flowing gowns with deep side-slits symbolizing who she is today. ...
Armani Prive Spring 2011 Haute Couture Collection Is Techno Meets The Orient
Light years away from Giorgio Armani's previous Armani Prive collection of classic glamour in beige and camel color pallet, the new Armani Prive Spring 2011 Haute Couture collection is probably what women will wear in a time when we can actually travel at the speed of light.
The collection is as innovative as it is rooted in cultural concepts we've known for decades and centuries. If you weren't a club kid in the 90's, you must have at least watched MTV (90's were the golden years of the currently culturally bankrupt music channel) and will recognize the iridescent technical fabrics and stiff strapless tube dresses. The Orient was evident in the looks as well, be it in the Vietnamese hats, the ...
Christian Dior Spring 2011 Haute Couture Channels 40′s Femme Fatale
John Galliano has sent a much more tamed Christian Dior Spring 2011 Haute Couture collection down the runway than say, even in the previous season. Although still colourful, fiery bright color pallet was set aside, giving room to pastels and rich chocolates with an obligatory splash of fuschia here and there. Even the silhouettes, while still dramatic, were more, dare I say, minimal. Cinched at the waist for a classic hour-glass shape. But these aren't demure 40's housewives we're talking about. With fiery bright lips and dramatic black eyeliner, the looks were more reminiscent of 40's movie heroines projecting an almost aggressive allure rather than debutantes.
Tight pencil skirts, oversize New Look full skirts and long trails. All cinched tightly at ...
Alexis Mabille Spring 2011 Haute Couture Opens Couture Fashion Week
The young couturier, Alexis Mabille, opened Couture Fashion Week in Paris today with his Spring 2011 Haute Couture collection.
Mabille, staying true to himself - not believing couture and ready-to-wear shows should be separated - sent models down the runway in a rather eclectic mix of pieces. Here we have coquettish cigarette pants, in white or floral print, matched with a white or black cinched-waist jacket, just-above-the-knee full-skirt strapless dresses and old world glamour gowns channeling a Grecian goddess. Especially brave were the multifunctional last few looks. Starting out as an new-look type gown, the oversize full skirt - easily untied by the model - was turned into a cape, revealing a cute 60's over-the-knee dress.
Today, John Galliano for Christian Dior, ...
