Nor John Galliano's firing from Dior, neither LVMH attempt to invest in Hermès fiasco won't stop LVMH's Bernard Arnault doing business as usual, expanding his luxury kingdom.
In a transaction totaling at $6.01 billion, LVMH acquired a 50.4 percent stake in the Italian jewelry brand Bulgari. Also a family owned company, the Bulgari clan, unlike Hermès, welcomed the LVMH deal, realizing the growth potential for the brand.
The deal, in fact, works out perfectly for both parties - significantly increasing LVMH's jewelry division and giving Bulgari capital and means to expand it's product categories. Despite starting out as a jeweler, Bulgari now also has handbags and just a few weeks ago announced a new fragrance Mon Jasmin Noir.
Interestingly enough, because the acquisition ...

Kate Winslet was photographed by Mario Testino for the cover of next month's UK Vogue April 2011 issue. She wears a black knit dress by Roland Mouret - a British designer and the man who gave us (but mostly Victoria Beckham) the Galaxy dress.
This is Winslet's third cover with the magazine. She graced the covers of two UK Vogue January issues, back in 2003 and 2007.
Vogue Paris April 2011 issue comes out in 10 days. It will be first Vogue Paris issue with Emmanuelle Alt as Editor In Chief at the top of the masthead. Alt chose Gisele Bündchen for the cover - she was already photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matatin in St.Barts. That said, it won't be until August that an issue that completely reflects her vision comes out. Just don't expect it be "all rock 'n' roll" or radically changed in any way, Alt tells Hilary Alexander.
"Of course, some things will change, because we [Roitfeld and I] have a different eye," Alt continues. "I would like to have more beauty, more lifestyle. I want to use more young designers. We ...
Jessie Randall, Loeffler Randall's creative director and designer has been creating one-off wedding shoes for friends and customers as favors for years. This season she finally decided to make it official and created a special bridal collection, reworking the downtown appeal of styles from seasons past into becoming more wedding appropriate.
Randall's bridal collection has something for every type of bride. From traditionally white stiletto booties ($625) to the more edgy metallic snakeskin ($595) and whimsical nude flats ($295). To be quite honest, you don't have to be a bride to fall in love with the nude flats that have a great vintage vibe and spring potential to them.

The rumor mill as to who will replace John Galliano as Dior's head creative director hasn't stopped spinning since the designer's tragic fall from grace a week ago. At times it feels as though people are simply throwing their favorite designers' names out there. We still have a good couple of weeks of speculating to go, since Dior is in no rush to make a decision. According to Fashionologie, Dior won't make statements on the matter for quite some time. "They’re receiving offers," a source close to LVMH says. French employment laws are also in LVMH's way. Until the completion of Galliano's firing process which might take a few weeks, the luxury conglomerate cannot officially begin replacing him.
While many ...
TheOutnet, Net-A-Porter's discount designer online boutique, scored quite the collaboration. Anna Sui designed a lower-priced collection for TheOutnet which is set to debut on the website this Thursday.
Anna Sui For TheOutnet collection consists of 15 styles of dresses, from star print tunics for day to demi hand-drawn floral print shifts for night. The wide range of dresses priced at the $193 to $253 range is not based on Sui's signature collection so at not to compete with it but does convey the designer's quirky style.
Three Cousin Its walked the runway at Ann Demeulemeester Fall 2011 runway show. It is not to say it came as a total surprise, Demeulemeester's entire collection was generously embellished with horse hair, creating a very raw, Gothic vibe. The three full length fur looks following one another mid show seemed like a combination of horse and goat hair. How devilish!
