Emmanuelle Alt Givenchy Fall 2011 Front Row

Vogue Paris April 2011 issue comes out in 10 days. It will be first Vogue Paris issue with Emmanuelle Alt as Editor In Chief at the top of the masthead. Alt chose Gisele Bündchen for the cover – she was already photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matatin in St.Barts. That said, it won’t be until August that an issue that completely reflects her vision comes out. Just don’t expect it be “all rock ‘n’ roll” or radically changed in any way, Alt tells Hilary Alexander.

“Of course, some things will change, because we [Roitfeld and I] have a different eye,” Alt continues. “I would like to have more beauty, more lifestyle. I want to use more young designers. We should surprise every time, otherwise it could be boring.”

And use young designers she did. While styling a haute couture photoshoot with Kate Moss and Mert and Marcus for the forthcoming May issue, she discovered Julien Fournie, an unknown couturier and immediately included one of his designs in the shoot, alongside Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Chanel, and Alexandre Vauthier.

Although Alt had to forgo all her freelance styling and consulting gigs for brands (no more Isabel Marant or Balmain), she says she’ll still style one photoshoot a month for the magazine. Haute couture photoshoot described above being prime example.
