Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy didn’t get the recognition they deserved for their work on Black Swan costumes (luckily, Natalie Portman did) at 2011 Oscars. But it’s all water under the bridge now that sisters get their first solo exhibition on the West Coast.
The exhibition Rodarte: States Of Matter will present the designers’ garments hung from the ceiling – some static, some in motion – as sculptural objects. Of course, the Black Swan ballet costumes designed by Rodarte will be included and so will select pieces from Rodarte’s Spring 2010, Fall 2010, and Fall 2008 collections.
Rodarte: States Of Matter will open to the public today – March 4th – at MOCA Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles.
