Kaikoku – “Open society” in Japanese. That is the name of Hussein Chalayan’s recent Fall 2011 collection. Besides showing a presentation and creating a look book, the designer also created a film. Whether you can call it a short film is debatable when it comes to fashion films – it’s 19 minutes long. A play on models walking the collection in a smokey space, shadows and darkened silhouettes. Some very sharp coats and double breasted jackets live alongside the more deconstructed and asymmetric pieces in this collection, while simple dresses in mute prints complete it.
