Overall, I was pleased with the 2011 Oscars Red Carpet looks. I was hoping to see of some the more daring Spring 2011 Haute Couture, but the only one who truly satisfied my high-fashion appetite was Cate Blanchett who carried that Givenchy Haute Couture gown with great poise and elegance. Most other looks were quite safe and uneventful to such an extent that two of our Best Dressed ladies are actually “wives of” – McConaughey’s Camila Alves and Wahlberg’s Rhea Durham. Is making a fashion statement out of fashion?
So check out our 2011 Oscars Best Dressed list below and stay tuned for our 2011 Oscars Worst Dressed.
Cate Blanchett definitely was an outstanding stunner last night. The Givenchy Haute Couture Spring 2011 dress she wore was cutting edge and powerful, like Cate herself.
Camila Alves wore a black plunging halter neck Kaufman Franco gown. While the top was undoubtably revealing, her styling had her looking both elegant and exotic. I didn’t even notice Matthew McConaughey, she completely stole his spotlight.
Reese Witherspoon wore a black and white strapless Armani PrivĂ© gown which could have been quite uneventful has it not been for her hair and makeup. A high bouncy ponytail in a 60’s bouffant do style and a heavy eyeliner gave her a groovy retro vibe.
Red was definitely a trend on the 2011 Oscars Red Carpet last night, but we pick Sandra Bullock and her Vera Wang gown as the only red look we liked.
Hilary Swank‘s embroidered Gucci Premiere gown was embellished with ostrich feathers that gave her that perfect touch of glamour.
Mila Kunis who wore a draped lavender Eli Saab gown this time, has a regular spotlight on our Best Dressed lists. Considering the casual manner she approaches these Red Carpet events, her dress choices are always spot on. She carries those gowns with such ease and nonchalance, it makes us like her even more.
Florence Welch wore a nude Valentino Haute Couture long-sleeve gown and looked simply elegant in it.
Marisa Tomei also went retro, wearing a vintage navy Charles James gown, bringing back the old world glamour.
Although Rhea Durham didn’t leave Mark Wahlberg’s grip for one second, her dress deserved a solo photo. She wore a nude and red Naeem Khan gown. A color combination I just love.
Gwyneth Paltrow shimmered in a really special body-con Calvin Klein dress. It was modern and easy and made her stand out.
