For Fall 2011 Richie Rich takes the concept of democratization of fashion to the next level.
“Villionaire”, Richie Rich describes, “is Marie Antoinette reincarnated into the East Village. She is an exploration of the true New York female renegade; from 20’s prohibition to 80’s pure punk.” Villionaire, you see, is the name of the Richie Rich Fall 2011 collection.
The internet and fast fashion brands have brought fashion to the masses. With even the biggest of brands streaming their runway shows live – you can virtually attend a Jason Wu or a Gucci show out of the comfort of your own bedroom. But how about really attending a fashion show – part of the official New York Fashion Week schedule no less?
Richie Rich invites you (and you, and you) to attend his Villionaire By Richie Rich runway show. Rich showed his Spring 2011 collection at Lincoln center a few months ago as well, but the “stuffiness” of the grand location simply didn’t work for him he says. And so, in a rather radical move, he turned his runway show into a rock show – opening ticket sales to the public at the cost of $35 dollars.
You will be glad to know that the proceeds of ticket sales will go to kids charities – Dosomething.org and CoockiesForKidsCancer.org and the show will include a performance by The Harlem James Gang and a surprise guest.
