Marc Jacobs’ work for Louis Vuitton did not go unnoticed by the French and so last Thursday he was honored with the Trophée des Arts award for his contribution to French fashion by French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF). The 2010 FIAF Trophée des Arts award was presented to him by Anna Wintour.
Jacobs said of the win, “I’m lucky to have this great job at Louis Vuitton. I can’t put [what I love about Paris] into one thing. It’s an ephemeral feeling, I feel happy and comfortable there. It’s the physical city, the lifestyle, the wine, the art.”
Since 1992, each year the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) chooses an American honoree who contributes to the French culture thus bringing the French and American cultures closer.
