Shao Yen Spring 2011 Collection Lookbook

I discovered Shao Yen’s dreamy knits and fluffy silhouettes made of nylon stings a few months ago. His Fall 2010 collection was beautifully featured in Dazed & Confused magazine. He was one of the lucky few Central Saint Martins graduates that got to show their graduation collections on the runway during London Fashion Week Fall 2010.

His Spring 2011 collection is smaller, but good nontheless. Shao Yen presented the small Spring 2011 collection during London Fashion Week a few weeks ago. While continuing to use the fake fur made of nylon strings, he introduced new colors, silhouettes and materials. Pieces like the black leather vest with ruffle-like zipper trim and cream mini dress with cutout-ribs detail are standing out and make me want to see more.

Shao-Yen Chen is a London based knits designer born in Taiwan. Although a fresh graduate of the Masters Program of Fashion at the prestigious school of Central Saint Martins, he already has internships at Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and Claire Tough under his belt.
